Close the lid.
Your agents keep working.
CoffeeForMac keeps your Mac awake with the lid closed, so Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can finish long runs while you’re away.
For macOS 13 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel.

What happens overnight.
A normal night with three agents and a closed lid, on a Mac that’s plugged in.
You close the lid.
CoffeeForMac keeps the Mac awake. The cup in the menu bar stays orange, and all three agents carry on.
Claude Code finishes the payments migration.
Three files changed and 128 tests passed. Nobody had to watch it.
Codex fixes the flaky end-to-end tests.
It re-runs all twelve suites, then opens pull request #482.
Every ten seconds, a safety check.
Battery and heat are watched all night. At your limit, Keep Awake switches off and the Mac goes to sleep.
Cursor finishes the docs.
Fourteen pages now match the new API, in pull request #483.
You open the lid.
Three pull requests are waiting for review. So is your coffee.
It knows when to stop.
A Mac that can’t sleep can drain its battery or overheat in a bag. CoffeeForMac checks every ten seconds and switches itself off at your limits. If the lid is closed, the Mac goes to sleep right away.
- If the app ever crashes, normal sleep is back within a second.
- If the Mac restarts, normal sleep is back at startup.
- Quit CoffeeForMac, and normal sleep is back.
- With an external display connected, it never forces sleep.

Set up in a minute.
- 1
Download and open CoffeeForMac.
It lives in your menu bar as a small cup. A short setup assistant explains everything before anything is installed.
- 2
Allow lid-closed mode, once.
macOS only lets an administrator stop lid-closed sleep, so setup asks for your password one time. It allows exactly three sleep commands, and nothing else.
- 3
Close the lid.
Click the cup and choose Keep Awake, or press ⌃⌥⌘C. Close the lid and let the agents work.
Needs macOS 13 Ventura or later. Works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, in the menu bar and with the lid shut.
Signed, private and easy to remove.
Updates you can trust
Every update is signed, so only genuine CoffeeForMac updates install. They arrive in the background and never restart the app while Keep Awake is on.
Private by default
Optional, anonymous analytics and crash reports use a random ID made on your Mac. Never your name, your files, or anything you type. Switch them off in Settings.
Easy to remove
Uninstall is one click in Settings. It restores normal sleep and removes everything CoffeeForMac added, including its admin helper.
Questions.
Which Macs does it work on?
Any Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel.
How do I install it?
Open the downloaded file, drag CoffeeForMac into your Applications folder, and open it. The setup assistant takes it from there.
macOS says it can’t verify CoffeeForMac.
Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.
Why does it ask for my password?
Keeping a Mac awake with the lid closed needs an administrator setting. CoffeeForMac asks once, during setup, and allows exactly three commands: switch lid-closed sleep off, switch it back on, and sleep the Mac now.
Is it safe to leave my MacBook in a bag?
CoffeeForMac switches off at your battery limit, or when macOS reports the Mac is getting too hot, and with the lid closed the Mac then sleeps right away. For long runs, a desk with the charger connected is still the best place.
Does it work with an external display?
Yes. With a display connected, it keeps the Mac awake as usual and never forces it to sleep, since you’re probably using it.
What if CoffeeForMac crashes?
Normal sleep comes back within a second, and again every time the Mac starts up. Your Mac is never left unable to sleep.
Does it send my data anywhere?
Only anonymous analytics and crash reports, and only while you leave them on. They use a random ID made on your Mac and never include your name, your files, or anything you type.
How do I uninstall it?
In CoffeeForMac’s Settings, open Setup and click Uninstall CoffeeForMac. It restores normal sleep, removes everything it added, and moves the app to the Trash.
